Thiruvananthapuram, May 30, 2025 β The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for eight districts in Kerala, warning of extremely heavy rainfall and potential landslides. The affected districts include Idukki, Kannur, Kasaragod, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Ernakulam.
In response to the severe weather conditions, educational institutions in Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod have been closed on Friday. Authorities have also imposed restrictions on night travel in high-range areas of Idukki between 7 PM and 6 AM as a precautionary measure.
The IMD has forecast that the heavy rainfall is likely to continue over the next four days, with varying intensities across different regions of the state. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and follow the instructions issued by local authorities.
