Abu Dhabi’s Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship is heading towards its final Gi round, with three days of competition scheduled at Mubadala Arena from 16 to 18 October 2026.
The finale follows September’s Round 7, where Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club finished first, Al Jazira Jiu-Jitsu Club second and Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club third after competition involving athletes from clubs and academies across the UAE.
For families and sports followers in Abu Dhabi, the October round offers another opportunity to see one of the UAE’s most established martial arts disciplines at a major local venue.
When and where is the final round?
Dates: 16–18 October 2026
Venue: Mubadala Arena, Abu Dhabi
Competition: Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship — Final Round Gi
The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation currently lists the final Gi round across all three days.
Individual competition times and category schedules may vary, so anyone planning to attend should check the latest official programme before travelling.
What happened in Round 7?
Round 7 took place at Mubadala Arena from 18 to 20 September.
The competition included athletes across several age groups, from younger categories through Adults and Masters, with performances contributing towards club results.
At the end of the round:
1. Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club
2. Al Jazira Jiu-Jitsu Club
3. Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club
The September event also drew families supporting younger competitors, highlighting an important part of the championship: it is not built only around elite adult athletes.
Why the multi-round format matters
A championship spread across several rounds gives athletes something a single annual tournament cannot provide as easily:
repeated competitive experience.
Young athletes can return to competition after each round, coaches can assess progress and clubs can build performance across a season rather than preparing for only one event.
For families with children already involved in jiu-jitsu, that can also make the sport easier to follow.
Instead of seeing one isolated competition, they can watch how athletes develop from round to round.
Why jiu-jitsu has become so visible in Abu Dhabi
Jiu-jitsu has developed a particularly strong presence in the UAE, with competitions ranging from youth development events to major international championships.
Abu Dhabi regularly hosts events involving local academies, professional athletes and international competitors.
For residents who have never attended a jiu-jitsu event, the October finale can also be an opportunity to understand the sport beyond social-media clips or medal tables.
Competition involves technique, control, timing and tactical decision-making — not simply strength.
Planning to attend?
Because competition categories can run at different times over the three days, spectators should confirm:
- the latest daily schedule;
- which categories are competing;
- spectator-access arrangements;
- any ticket or registration requirements; and
- venue-entry information.
Use the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s official event information for final details rather than relying on an older event poster.
MalluMetro Take
The September round gave Baniyas the top result for that weekend.
The more useful story now is what comes next.
From 16 to 18 October, Mubadala Arena hosts the final Gi round of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship, bringing another full weekend of competition to Abu Dhabi.
For families following the sport — particularly those with children training in jiu-jitsu – the multi-round format shows how competitive development happens over time:
not through one tournament, but through repeated opportunities to train, compete, learn and return stronger.
