A metro map changes how people think about distance. The approved Gold Line could eventually redraw that map for another group of Dubai neighbourhoods.
What has been officially announced
RTA announced in April 2026 that the Dubai Metro Gold Line had been approved with an investment of approximately AED 34 billion.
The planned line extends 42 kilometres across 18 stations and is described by RTA as Dubai’s first fully underground metro line.
What an underground line changes
Underground construction can reduce the permanent visual footprint of rail infrastructure in dense districts, but it requires complex tunnelling, utility coordination, station excavation and safety systems.
For residents, the most visible effects during construction may be work zones, diversions and logistics activity around station sites rather than an elevated viaduct.
Do not make property decisions from a headline
New transport links can influence neighbourhood demand over time, but station access, delivery dates, walking conditions and wider market factors all matter.
A buyer or tenant should wait for verified station information and assess the full cost of living rather than assuming every nearby property will rise in value.
MalluMetro Take
The Gold Line is a major long-term transport commitment. For residents, the right approach is to follow official project milestones, understand that construction will take time, and avoid making expensive decisions based on speculation alone.
